A trademark infringement lawsuit has been filed against Crayola LLC by toy manufacturer Spin Master Ltd. The controversy is over Spin Master's "Liv" trademark.
According to the toy company, the Hallmark subsidiary's new "Liv Crayola" line is competing for same the target audience already taken by Spin Master's "Liv" dolls. The Spin Master "Liv" line is a set of dolls marketed with accompanying online narratives about the lives of the dolls.
Whether or not Crayola LLC is in violation of Spin Master's trademark will be determined by the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Until such a time, no further information is being released.
A Hallmark spokeswoman stated, "As a company policy, we do not comment on issues that are pending under litigation."
