Where Can I Learn About New York Franchise Laws?

There are various resources on the Internet where you may obtain information about New York franchise laws. You can view the New York Franchise Laws by conducting a simple Google search. Article 33 of New York State Code, sections 680-695, lists the rules and regulations that govern New York franchises. These rules include disclosure requirements, fraudulent and unlawful practices, and actions by the department of law. This code also lists the civil remedies that are available to franchisees.

You can also find valuable information on the Franchise Page of the New York Attorney General website. Under the "supplemental information" link, you will find a heading titled Franchise Forms. Here you will see a list of the information that a franchisor must provide when registering a franchise in New York.

This is information that must be provided in the Franchise Disclosure Document, which includes recent financial statements, stockholder equity figures, as well as the history of any lawsuits or bankruptcies that the company has experienced.

By failing to provide this information, a franchisor will be in violation of New York franchise law, and may be subject to legal action. If you need to take legal action after the violation of franchise law, you can get the professional help of a Manhattan franchise attorney.
