A: In addition to the federal franchise laws and the regulation of franchises by the Federal Trade Commission, the following states have enacted supplemental franchise laws and require the "registration" of a franchisor's franchise disclosure document prior to the offer or sale of any franchise opportunity:

- Hawaii
- Illinois
