What is a "Collaborating Physician"?

 

A: With regard to the practice of registered professional nursing by a nurse practitioner, a "collaborating physician" is a licensed physician in the same geographic area as the nurse practitioner and qualified to collaborate in the practice specialty, related specialty or related field of practice, provided such services are performed in accordance with a written practice agreement and written practice protocols.
